ACTIVITY N° 12 SCIENCE: ENERGY AND LIGHT

Good afternoon, everyone!
How are you?

Today we are going to work with our science book. We are going to talk about ENERGY and LIGHT.
Let’s start by writing down the date on your ring binders.

Tuesday, April 21st
Today is sunny.
We are in autumn.
SCIENCE

Today we are going to learn about THE SUN'S LIGHT.

The sun gives us heat, light and the air we breathe. But have you ever thought about just how powerful it really is or the potential scale of what it can do for us?

THINK AND ANSWER: Can light transfer energy?

To find out the answer to that question, we are going to watch the following video:

AFTER YOU WATCH: Answer the following questions.
  1. What is the star at the centre of our solar system?
  2. Does the Sun provide us with energy? (provide=give)
  3. Is the surface of the Sun hotter than its core (centre)?
  4. Is the Earth bigger than the Sun?
  5. Where is the energy of the sun created?
  6. How long does it take sunlight to reach the Earth?

Let’s sing together!

Fill in the blanks with the correct word.
Here Comes the Sun (The Beatles)

Here comes the ______(doo doo doo doo)
Here ______ the sun, and I say
It's all ]________
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely _________
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been _____
Here comes ______ sun
Here comes the sun, and I _____
It's all _____
Little darling, the smiles returning to the ______
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been ______
Here comes the _____
Here  _______ the sun, and I say
It's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it ____________
Sun, sun, sun, here ______ comes
Sun, sun, ______, here it comes
Sun, sun, sun, ______ it comes
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes
Little darling, I feel that ice is _____ melting
Little _______, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the _______
Here comes the sun, and I ______
It's all right
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
It's all right

NOW, ANSWER:
·     The song talks about a sunny day,
how do you feel on a sunny day?
·     Make a list of the activities you do on a sunny day.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:
-Read the text on page 16 (Exploring science).
-Conduct the experiment on pages 18 and 19.
Let’s find out: Can light energy change objects?

You will need the following materials:
1.    CONSTRUCTION PAPER (CARTULINA)
2.    SMALL CLASSROOM OBJECTS (ÚTILES ESCOLARES PEQUEÑOS)

[Traducción de los pasos:

Conclusions: Do you agree with these conclusions?

·     Light energy can change objects.
·     When direct sunlight strikes a piece of construction paper, the light causes a change in the paper.
·     Light energy has an effect on the colour of the construction paper.

¡Muchas gracias!)

¡Esperamos que disfruten la clase de hoy!
